Town of Stow Hosting Community Forum to Gather Feedback on Randall Library Renovation

STOW — Library Director Tina McAndrew and the Randall Library Building Committee invite residents to a community forum, during which the project architects will share three options for renovating and enhancing the building.

The firm DesignLAB, which has experience on projects similar to Randall Library, has developed three paths forward that the Building Committee will evaluate while considering the community feedback.

The forum will take place on Thursday, Nov. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. Due to the use of breakout rooms during the forum, you must pre-register to attend.  Residents should click here to both pre-register and access the meeting on Thursday.

DesignLAB will share the three options for renovating the library:

Keeping the entire existing structure, bringing it up to code, and adding additional functionality.

Building up from the 1975 addition and building out from the existing children's area, which would allow for enhanced functionality.

Demolishing the 1975 addition and building a smaller, two-story addition in its place. This option would achieve the functional goals of the library and also aligns with the feedback residents shared in a recent community survey.

In 2019, Town Meeting approved spending money toward designs for a renovation and expansion. The Select Board appointed a Building Committee, which was charged with developing and issuing a request for proposals, then evaluating consultants.

DesignLAB will provide additional detail about costs associated with its proposals during the community forum.
