Read first regarding the SOIs

About the Statements of Interest:

In requesting funds from the State to offset the costs of renovating and/or adding to our schools, the first official step in the process is the submission of a Statement of Interest for each school that we have under consideration.  Because we need to address the elementary school situation, we need to submit two separate "SOIs": one for each of our elementary schools.

As you will read in the introductiory pages, the Mass School Building Authority (MSBA) has eight statutory priorities, and each SOII form is broken down using these as an outline.  The SBTF's job was to succinctly report on the statement of need for each school.  We had to choose which of the priorities were most relevant to the problems we face in our schools and then make a case for what we see are pressing problems that need to be addressed.

In both schools, we addressing Priorities 1, 2, 5 and 7.

What these documents DO NOT do is ask for or allow for any proposed solutions.  That comes much later.

The SBTF submitted these Statements of Interest on Thursday, April 12.  The next step is to get a meeting with MSBA staff to discuss these needs and fully understand the next steps.  We will be reporting on this progress at our presentations being held throughout this month and right up to Town Meeting on May 7th.  Any questions can be addressed directly to the Chairman, Ellen Sturgis
