Year 2040 - Station 3

At this station, participants were asked to imagine Stow in 20 years, envisioning a best case development scenario for the community.  What will the site look like? Who is on the land? What are they doing? What does it sound like?

Most discussion time was centered on the idea of the land conserved as open space, particularly the south course of Stow Acres Country Club.  Participants described the scenic value of the south course, including the views of the Assabet River and from the eskers. Because several individuals noted that these views are currently only seen by golfers, participants discussed alternative or additional ways the land could be enjoyed through passive or active recreation.  Another idea proposed included a vision for a mixed-use development to preserve valuable open space while providing housing, limited shopping opportunities, and the potential for a cider mill or brewery.
