February  15, 2012 is the last day to Register to Vote for the March 6, 2012 State Presidential Primary



Appointment Authority: Members appointed by Board of Selectmen, three year term.

Description of Duties:

The Registrars are responsible for:
l
registering voters
l
making local listings of residents (voter lists and street lists)
l
certifying nomination papers and petitions
l
processing absentee voter applications
Members are chosen from the local Democratic and Republican political parties, with no more than two members from each party. The party enrollment of the Town Clerk affects the membership of the board, but the Town Clerk need not be enrolled in a political party.

Election Workers

Registered Stow voters interested in working at the polls during elections, please contact the Chief Election Officer by 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 25th.

Stow voters registered as Republican and Democrat are considered first per MGL with registered Unenrolled voters and other parties considered second.
Duties include: Checking voters, assisting with the ballot box, and counting ballots.

Training Sessions are required.

Names are added to the master list and are called upon on an ‘as needed’ basis.
Elections in 2012- 2013 include:

State Primary – September 6, 2012
State Election – November 6, 2012
Special Town Election – Fall 2012  (date to be determined)
Annual Election –May 2013
