PEG Minutes 3/3/06
Minutes of the Thursday, March 3, 2005 PEG Advisory Committee Meeting

Members Present:        Andy Dunn
                        Jim Parr
                        Ross Perry
Merrily Evdokimoff, Associate

Also Present:   Ann VanTine, PEG Coordinator

The meeting was called to order at 7:35PM at the Stow Town Building.

Those present discussed the following:

Minutes for February 17th were reviewed. Revisions were noted and  minutes will be reviewed again at the next meeting.

The committee discussed plans for recording Town Meeting. We agreed that we should consider recording the event but might not want to be responsible for setting up any audio or video equipment that will be needed for the meeting itself. VanTine suggested that the Board of Selectmen might want to approach the Hale School to borrow their camera for sending video into the overflow room. More discussion on this will be added to the agenda for the next PEG meeting.

VanTine updated the committee on the programs running on channel 9. We now have 3 scheduled programs running. VanTine has received videos not yet on air including, kids lip syncing, a video of a Junior Varsity basketball game and 3 tapes of the Stow winter concert.

VanTine showed the committee the most recent Stow TV Newsletter dated March 1, 2005 and plans on distributing it this week. There is also a chance that she might attend the Press Day for the New England Flower Show if her schedule allows.

Dunn and VanTine were asked to select a video camera appropriate for the PEG committee to own and use on future recordings.

VanTine updated the committee on plans to record presentations of town departments. On March 16th, the School Building Committee and the Superintendent of Schools will be making presentations. The Finance Committee and the Council on Aging have expressed additional interest as well.

On a motion from Dunn and seconded by Parr, Coordinators Invoice for services for the period February 1-28, 2005 in the amount of $1250.00 as well as additional compensation for the retroactive period of December 1, 2004 to January 31, 2005 was approved and initialized for payment.

The committee discussed the proposal from earlier in the year regarding a new table for the Warren Room meetings. VanTine researched the table for the Board of Selectmen and gave them the information she found.

In an email to VanTine, Lew Halprin suggested that the PEG committee occasionally provide a stipend to people who will to record events that the PEG committee wish to have on tape when they cannot find volunteers. It was agreed that we may want to bring this up again in the future, however it would impede our goal to find more volunteers so we will not be providing stipends at this time.

VanTine presented the committee with quotes from Great Northern Video and HB Communications received in response to the request for quotation we sent out. The bids were for the purchase, installation and support of the Warren Room meeting setup. The committee members will review the quotes in detail and return at the next meeting to discuss options.

It was suggested by Bill Wrigley and agreed upon by the committee that VanTine be ‘Keeper of the Records’ instead of Evdokimoff since VanTine is a paid employee of the committee.

The next PEG meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 7:30 at the Stow Town Building.

On a motion from Dunn and seconded by Parr, unanimous vote, the committee adjourned at 9:53PM.
