STOW POLICE DEPARTMENT
WORKING TO KEEP CHILDREN SAFE

Stow Police Department Child Passenger Safety Hotline: 978-897-4545

The Stow Police Departments’ Child Passenger Safety Program currently consists of a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician who has completed a 32-hour course in the proper installation of child restraints from infants to young adults. The purpose of this program is to provide guidance, information and instruction with the installation of child restraints (car seats) into a motor vehicle, to the citizens of Stow.

Injuries from motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional injuries for children under the age of 12, and these injuries are the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 1 and 14.

You may call the Stow Police Department to speak with our departments’ technician and schedule an appointment to have your car seat inspected for proper installation and to make certain your child is safe while riding in a motor vehicle.

Our technician attends annual refresher courses to keep up to date on information and equipment available for children. The technician is also required to re-certify their knowledge every 2 years through a National Safe Kids Coalition hands on test and must install seats with a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Instructor to maintain certification. Safe Kids Coalition is the national organization overseeing the program across the country.

You may call the Stow Police Department at anytime if you have questions regarding your child’s safety, to schedule an appointment to have your installation inspected, or to have a technician speak at your organizations next event or meeting. You may call the Stow Police non-emergency number, 978-897-4545, ask for Officer Christopher Harrington’s voice mail and leave a message. Due to scheduling, please allow a couple of days for a return call. You may also email Officer Harrington the completed application at [Link]charrington@stow-ma.gov

Please visit our website or facebook page to download our department child passenger seat application or you may obtain an application at the Stow Police Department at 305 Great Road.
